Janette Bobis is Professor of Mathematics Education and Pro Dean Research in the Faculty of Education and Social Work, University of Sydney. Drawing upon her extensive experiences as a primary school teacher, she lectures in mathematics education and conducts research into teacher's mathematical knowledge, beliefs and practices. She also studies the impact of these teacher characteristics on primary and middle years students' learning of mathematics, and their motivation and engagement in mathematics.
